FIU Music Hour – Juvenal Correa-Salas

FIU Music Hour takes place every Tuesday, 11am – 12p, as a live performance and broadcast in the WDNA Jazz Gallery.
The program features Florida International University School of Music students, faculty, alumni and friends.
This week featuring pianist, harpsichordist, organist, and conductor, Juvenal Correa-Salas.
Juvenal Correa-Salas was born is Santiago, Chile, and has performed as soloist on the organ, piano and harpsichord in recitals and with major ensembles in the USA, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. He studied music in Chile, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Spain, Italy and USA and graduated from Indiana University. As conductor, chamber music collaborator and accompanist he has worked internationally at opera houses, Universities, Conservatories and major Music Festivals. As a composer his commissioned works have included religious choral and orchestral works, solo piano works, incidental electronic music for theatre, dance and documentary projects, full length ballet works, and chamber ensemble works. As lecturer, he has been invited to opera houses, universities, and international symposiums in Europe, South America and the USA. Juvenal and his wife, ballerina Emily Ricca, are the founders of “Romance Project” a non for profit organization that develops international artistic/educational programs for underprivileged communities. Currently he also is a faculty member at FIU School of Music in Miami at the Opera and Early Music Departments, and works in collaboration with Miami City Ballet, as well as fulfilling his composition, performances and presentations agenda for the current season.
