Aldo Salvent – Jazz Encounters

ALDO SALVENT – Cuban & Costa Rican saxophonist, Aldo Salvent brings his beautiful original music to the gallery.

 

Aldo Salvent is an award winning saxophonist and composer. He holds a Master Degree in saxophone performance from Florida International University (FIU). As well, he is a graduate with Summa Cum Laude mention from both National University of Costa Rica (BM), and Amadeo Roldan Conservatory in La Habana, Cuba.

 

As a saxophonist Mr. Salvent has played and toured in Sweden, Norway, Taiwan, Cambodia, Vietnam, United States, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Canada, Honduras, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Cuba, Brasil and Argentina. He has also performed with Paquito D’ Rivera, Brian Lynch, Calixto Oviedo, Sammy Figueroa, Waldo Madera, Chuck Bergeron, Martin Bejerano, Jim Gasior, Jamie Ousley, Alfredo Chacón and Mike Orta.

 

Mr. Salvent was Saxophone Professor at the National University of Costa Rica (UNA) for five years and has been invited as an international jury in several saxophone international competitions in Mexico, Honduras and Costa Rica.

 

Awarded with a Teaching Assistant Scholarship, Aldo Salvent moved to Miami, Florida in 2013 persuing his Master Degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance at Florida International University (FIU) with Professor Gary Campbell, where he currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Saxophone.

 

In August 2014 he recorded his first solo album Da Capo as a leader on Dazzle Recordings Label in Denver-Colorado, receiving very positive reviews from All About Jazz magazine and El Nuevo Herald newspaper after the official release in January 2015. “Da Capo” is available in Itunes, Amazon and CD Baby.

 

In 2017 Mr. Salvent is awarded a full tuition scholarship from University of Miami Frost School of Music to pursue a Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) in Jazz Instrumental Performance from the Saxophone Studio of Professor Gary Keller.

 

While at Frost School of Music he has worked with Maria Schneider, Ingrid Jensen, Christine Jensen, Lucy Woodward, Shelton Berg and Ken Peplowski. In January 2019 Mr. Salvent performed with the award-winning Frost Jazz Sextet at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the performing Arts, opening for the Joshua Redman Quartet.

 

Salvent’s second album Ancestros is scheduled to be released in September 2019, featuring Jamie Ousley on bass, Jim Gasior on piano, Hilario Bell on drums, Alfredo Chacon on vibes and Dayron Gallardo on percussion.
